Shadow Palms Drawing for September Gallery Show

This is one of my new pen-and-ink drawings for my gallery show opening September 12th. I love the contrast of the sun-drenched three dimensional palm trees with their flattened dark shadows on the wall. The title is "Shadow Palms." This is an example of why I always have my camera with me. When I see sunlight and shadows like these, I know that it is something I am going to draw.

beautiful! Do you do a pencil sketch first or do you use ink straight away?

I tend to use a combination. Pencil in especially complicated areas that need to be accurate for the results I am after.
